Within the last month there are/have been two huge events for Quilters here in the Midwest! We at Toadally Quilted embarked on one of our shortest trips for all things quilting by heading to Kansas City, MO for Spring Quilt Market. I got to see 4 of my quilts displayed in the Batik Textiles booth. They are a great bunch to work with, and a few of my quilts were asked to venture around for a bit before coming home which makes us pretty happy!
We spend 4 days of quilt overload and finding just about anything you could ever want and more. Saw a big trend in floral fabrics. The hard part was not taking everything home, lucky for us we drove so I was able to shop a bit more :D
We had a bit of time to look at the Quilts a World of Beauty presented by IQA, which were all amazing but as I turned the corner stopped dead in tracks, I was shocked and ecstatic to find a quilt by Sophie Standing!!!!! I have to say I was introduced to her work several years ago and fell in love!!!! This was the first time I was able to see her work in person given that she lives in Kenya. She does these amazing quilts/artwork from her hand drawn sketches. They are unbelievable, if I could afford one i would have one on the wall right now! You can find her work at Sophiestandingart.com
The next adventure I actually started today, it's the Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival 2019 managed by 18 guilds in the Kansas City metropolitan and outlying areas.
For info on this show check out kcrqf.com More to coming on this show as I depart at the wee hours of the morning to get there for an 8am class!
As always, Happy Quilting.
P.S. We have 2 new quilt patterns on their way to the online store!!! and a long awaited quilt pattern will be coming next week! HINT: It makes a quiet hum as it flies around. So check back often, and check us out on FB and Instagram :)
Hello from Toadally Quilts!
So despite my best efforts to schedule new posts onto the blog, apparently I did not click the right button and it has been sitting in drafts. My sincerest apologies!!
If you did not catch the poll on FB (Facebook) over the past week, we did a Poll On Fusibles! Unfortunately, FB does not let you do a poll with more than two options (Ridiculous in my opinion), but I wanted to test it out and see how the response was anyway. Overall, I was pretty happy with the response with the exception of having to do some late night math; after a while everything is just a blur…
If I base the results strictly on the 2 options, the results would be as follows:
127 total votes:
63% Steam a seam (80 votes)
37% Heat & Bond (47 votes)
Keep with me a bit longer... those numbers are about to change!
Since FB only allows two options, I asked those that were so inclined to write in their vote in the comments if neither above applied! We ended up with an additional 49 votes, woo hoo, 176 total!!!
Here is how the numbers changed:
Steam a Seam 2 Total: 46.8% (82 votes)
Wonder Under 4.5% (8 votes)
Barely There 0.6% (1 vote)
Bondaweb 0.6% (1 vote)
Hugs & Kisses 0.6% (1 vote)
Softfuse 0.6% (1 vote)
Spraybond-Red can 0.6% (1 vote)
Thank you for indulging my slight geekout with math! I think some of those numbers might have been higher had it been a quick click button, hopefully FB will get that changed... FB wink, wink, nudge, nudge…
Anyway, I wasn’t too surprised at the top three, those are the ones I hear about the most. A few of the write in products I had not heard of and there are some die-hard fans of other products. What seemed to be the overall theme in the comments was that there are many options for fusible products. Depending on your project you may choose one over another, and there is no end-all be-all of fusibles… Some may disagree with that statement.
That's all from this quilter tonight and as always, Happy Quilting!
What a very strange and wonderful year it's been. As 2018 comes to a close we have something wonderful opening, the Pattern Shop is finally up and running, woo hoo!!! No more having to be diverted to another site to purchase & peruse Toadally Quilts™ quilt patterns.
Moving to a new platform can always take some time (apparently a long time from the date of my last post), especially when you are trying to design and build a new studio from the ground up, yep, this lady does it all. Exciting, Yes, exhausting, Yes, worth every minute, Yes!
We appreciate your patience and support as we made these changes. Stay tuned for new patterns that will be coming to a Toadally Quilts™ near you... nudge nudge wink wink, its right here → Shop & Gallery or you can click in the menu above to check out the new shop.
Shameless promotion...Want your local quilt shop to carry my patterns? Ask them to contact me :)
A lovely day for quilting here in Nebraska. A bit dreary but much better than the snow last week. We always have to have just one more snow before we can really call it spring, it just usually comes before mid-April!
As many of you know Spring Market is in Portland this year and is coming up quick! I am ecstatic to be heading to the beautiful Pacific Northwest to attend Market, go to some classes, see all the newest things coming out and meet up with friends. Will take be taking lots of pictures!
Taking a few extra days to get outside and see all the beauty of Oregon, it’s my first trip to this part of the country and I can wait... I feel like a kid waiting for Santa to come!
